2017 came to a close with Alpha Omega Fightmare Before Christmas in front of a jam packed Carleton crowd who were red hot throughout.
We opened proceedings with the Golden Chance Trophy match between holder Ryan Hunter and challenger Sam Gradwell.
Hunter has been looking for this match for the best part of a year, and it showed as he put on the performance of a lifetime.
Ryan proved to be Gradwell’s equal, and much to the delight of the Morecambe faithful, scored the victory.
Afterwards, Sam shook Ryan’s hand and raised his arm, showing the respect Hunter had been looking for throughout 2017.
David Alistair tried to take the show hostage until he got #OneMoreChance.
Unfortunately for Alistair, The War Machine Craig Kollins was not in the mood. Kollins dispatched Alistair swiftly and got ready to make the masked man BB pay for his actions as he had to face the music in singles action against the man who’s career he single handedly stalled.
Craig showed everyone why he is so highly feared and respected as he battered BB all over the place!
BB took to the outside, looking for refuge, even going out the fire exit. Kollins followed to continue the assault.
Seconds later, BB came back through the fire exit doors, closing them from the inside, locking Kollins out! BB then limped back to the ring before the 10 count to gain a highly tained countout victory.
As a steward opened the fire doors, Kollins bursted back in and went on the chase, looking like he was out for the kill, chasing BB to the back.
Next we saw a match between two men desperate to turn their luck around, starting with Sexy Kev. Kev explained to the fans that he had asked “Hornee Shaunee” to stay backstage as Kev isn’t sure who Shaun is any more, and he wanted to focus on getting a much needed victory. Matt Fox himself asked for the microphone before the two came to blows. But Matt wanted to tell everyone that… he was sorry! Fox said that he just wanted to prove that he truly was fantastic, but he realised he went about it the wrong way and he offered an apology, and his hand to Kev. Kev took pity on the downtrodden Fox and accepted his handshake, only to get immediately rolled up in a small package! 1…..2……3!!! Matt Fox wins?!
In a result no-one saw coming, Matt Fox got his first victory in Morecambe, celebrating with everyone he could get near… and Kev… just stood in the middle of the ring in shock.
The final match of the first half saw four championship calibre contenders fight over the Alpha Omega Women’s Championship.
Former women’s champion Felony and current reigning, defending champion Alexxis Falcon were joined by two newcomers, high flying exciting athlete Jami Sparx and Brash loudmouth cocky Jennie B (who herself was joined by her “hype man Jackie B”
As all four competitors tried to get hold of the contest, any of the four could have left as champion. Sparx showcased her skills that have scored her championships all over the country, as Jennie took every shortcut she could to become champion on her debut. In the end, Alexxis showed her championship credentials as she scored the winning pinfall over former champion Felony to retain her title.
Afterwards, Jennie and Jackie B both left in a huff, Felony stared down the champion before patting her on the head! Jami, although disappointed with the loss, showed a great sign of sportsmanship, hugging her friend Alexxis before leaving.
The rightful owners of the Tag Team Championships were decided next in a triple threat match.
All three members of HellBound went head to head as we saw Andre Dekker v Alton Thorne v Barricade for the first time ever.
It was as hellacious a match as you would expect, and no one was shocked as Thorne and Barricade both took turns battering the obnoxious Dekker. Eventually the fear of losing their grip on the tag titles lead to Thorne and Barricade coming to blows, and Dekker grabbed a chain and smashed Alton Thorne in the face to score the winning fall – making Dekker and Barricade the official tag team champions.
Afterwards Barricade was angry with Dekker for cheating, and clearly upset with the fact that he now has to team with the man he hates more than anyone, but as Dekker raised the tag titles on the stage, Barricade was stood with him, leaving Thorne alone in the ring.
A grudge match a year in the making took centre stage as Ebomb went one on one with Mr Williams. With special enforcer Rick Markus ensuring no matter how hard he tried, Mr Williams was unable to cheat. Perhaps Williams eyes weren’t entirely focused on the right man as E-Bomb pulled off the huge win to put this feud to rest. As E-Bomb celebrated with the fans, Williams aimed his anger at Markus. He soon realised that this was the wrong idea as Markus took out the teacher with a huge right hand!
The Morecambe Raffle saw the official introduction to the Morecambe fans to Jami Sparx. Jami said she has every intention of becoming champion, even if that means defeating her best friend Alexxis Falcon. At this point, Jennie B re-appeared and got right in Sparx’s face (as Jackie B further annoyed the entire crowd). Evil Lewis then took to the mic and said that at Outbreak, Jennie B and Jami Sparx will go one on one to determine the #1 contender to the Alpha Omega Women’s Championship!
The main event saw the year long reign of Alpha Omega Champion King Ryan Grayson come under it’s biggest ever threat as he defended against the Monster, Cyanide.
No matter what Grayson tried throughout the match, Cyanide was relentless. Grayson took a beating unlike ever seen before. At one point he tried to use his trusted Saltire steel chair, trying to get intentionally disqualified.
This didn’t work very well as Cyanide punched it out of Grayson’s hands!
The King’s royal reign was coming to a close as Cyanide measured up a chokeslam, but then Solar’s music played!
As the whole building was stunned, Solar made his return to Morecambe and headed straight to the ring.
Cyanide wasn’t sure how to react to his tag partner’s impromtu appearance, and the confusion continued as Solar grabbes Grayson’s Saltire chair and smashed Grayson with it!
After this, the referee had no option but to disqualify Cyanide and award Grayson the victory!
Because of this loss, Cyanide is never again eligible to challenge Grayson for the title. A fact many in attendance were aware of, as they booed Solar’s unnecessary actions.
But it seemed this was intentional, as Solar took off his mask, shoved it in Cyanide’s chest and gave him a rather un-pg gesture before storming out.
Cyanide followed both confused and angry at this shocking development.
Grayson eventually recovered and took to the mic, saying that he’s running out of challengers. Bobby Roberts stepped up, but Grayson warned Bobby that if the newly retired star dared step in the ring, Grayson would further injure his neck and leave him in a wheelchair! Then out of nowhere, Bobby Robert’s former tag parnter Lewis Girvan appeared!
Girvan snuck in the ring and took out the King! Girvan then brought Bobby in the ring and they ceremoniously buried Grayson as Girvan raised the Alpha Omega Championship high.
