At the beginning of 2017, Ryan Hunter was flying high.
He had just earned his place on the Alpha Omega roster, had made the permanent transition from cameraman to professional wrestler, defeated – and earned the respect of – his longtime antagonist Bubblegum, and was ready to make 2017 HIS year.
Unfortunately, Sam Gradwell seemed to have other ideas.
Gradwell – formerly known as RJM – had spent the better part of two years dealing with personal feuds, which had distracted him from his title aspirations. He was determined that 2017 was going to be HIS year.
When the fans who cheered for Gradwell seemed to be cheering that little bit louder for Hunter, something inside Sam snapped.
Sam, turning his back on the fans who had supported him for so long, violently attacked the rookie, beating him down in the ring and injuring his back.
Ryan fought through the pain to earn hard fought victories and continue his climb up the Alpha Omega roster, but he wanted Gradwell.
Sam seemingly did everything he could to avoid facing Hunter, including no-showing two shows in a row!
Gradwell says he is “above” Morecambe and Ryan, but there is something he DOES want. The Golden Chance trophy.
As it so happens, Ryan Hunter outlasted 19 other men (whilst sustaining a broken shoulder) to become the holder of the valuable trophy.
Sam Gradwell believes he has been ignored for title opportunities for so long and sees this as his chance to finally become champion.
Hunter wants a match, Gradwell wants the trophy. The challenge was set by Sam, and agreed to by Ryan.
December 2nd, Sam Gradwell v Ryan Hunter, with the Golden Chance Trophy on the line.
