Golden Chance recorded another history making night in Morecambe Wrestling.
Matt Taylor Richards got the crowd all prepared for a night of action packed entertainment, before UnSexy Kev made his rather underwhelming entrance.
Magnificent Matthew Brooks then made his own rather Magnificent entrance, singing a song just for Kev!
Kev and Brooks went back and forth in a great opening match, with Kev looking as though he was rediscovering his sexy side, before “The Magnificent One” scored the victory and Kev left downtrodden once more.
Women’s Champion Viper defended her near 1 year title reign against Alexis Rose in a fine example of women’s wrestling.
Despite Viper’s pre-match attack, Rose would get back into the match and make it an equal fight,
The crowd were 100% behind Alexis, who really took the fight to Viper – and looked to be close to a shock victory – until Laird Grayson’s distraction helped The Princess of Pain successfully retain her title for The Referendum.
Grayson took to the microphone to assert that as long as he is by her side, Viper would NEVER lose the title.
Then #1 contender Lana Austin appeared on the big screen with a message for her nemesis. Revealing that at Remember Remember on November 12th, Lana would FINALLY get her title shot. One on one, No countout, No disqualification, and NO INTERFERENCE!
Will Viper be able to defeat the fan favourite when Laird Grayson isn’t there to get involved?
The Tag Title #1 contenders Beat the clock challenge was up next. Where whichever team could win their match the quickest would get a title shot against The Referendum at Remember Remember on November 12th.
In match 1, Xander Cooper and his protege’ Ryan Hunter fought the debuting Island Brothers.
Ryan made a hero’s entrance in front of the Morecambe faithful, and Xander made sure that didn’t last as he immediately stopped Ryan’s music and had his own played instead.
This was only the beginning of Xander’s underhanded treatment of the former cameraman.
Throughout the match Ryan was left in a 2 on 1 situation as Cooper refused to get involved in the match, determined that Ryan would “learn more” if he faced the Island Brothers alone.
Ryan put up a brave fight but the debutants were just too much for the young man, as they moved one step closer to a tag title shot.
In match 2, Solar Power faced off against James Drake’s “Following” Barricade and Dekker.
Solar Power have quickly become the fan’s number one tag team in Morecambe, and had the entire Winter Gardens behind them.
Dekker and Barricade seemed to be gelling more than in the past, despite their “leader” James Drake appearing to be more of a hindrance than a help.
This would prove to be vital as the focussed Solar Power would pick up the victory – beating The Island Brothers’ time – to become #1 contenders to the tag team titles!
Felony appeared once again in the shadows of The Winter Gardens, leading fans to question why she keeps appearing and disappearing, and what is her plan?
Next up it was the Golden Chance Rumble!
The first two entrants were former cameraman Ryan Hunter and current tag team champion Lewis Girvan.
Highlights from the Golden Chance Rumble;
Ryan Hunter lasting throughout the Rumble from #1 to #20.
Laird Grayson accidentally eliminating surprise entrant Viper, then having to run for his life as Viper chased him to the back!
UnSexy Kev being eliminated by Matthew Brooks and leaving almost in tears.
The shock return of former tag team champion Mr Big Shaun Vasey.
The re-emergence of SEXY KEV, Reuniting Big Sexxxy!
James Drake forcing follower Dekker to help eliminate Drake’s other follower Barricade as collateral damage to ensure the elimination of Cyanide.
RJM clearing house and finally getting his hands on Drake, only to be distracted by The Leader causing his own elimination by Xander Cooper.
Xander Cooper ordering his trainee Ryan Hunter to eliminate himself, only for Hunter to fight back and FINALLY take the fight to Cooper.
Joey Hayes eliminating Xander Cooper to a huge reaction, as everyone thought this had meant that Hayes had won the golden chance trophy, only for Laird Grayson to run back out and throw Hayes over the top rope and be the official winner of the trophy, having only been in the ring for a few seconds!
Winner and new holder of the Golden Chance Trophy – Laird Grayson.
Grayson announced that now The Referendum are in possession of the tag team titles, the women’s title, AND the golden chance trophy, it was only a matter of time until they have all the gold. He went on to demand that Alpha Male Stallion personally hand him the trophy, and continued to berate the matchmaker until Stallion could take no more and KO’d the Laird with a huge right hand!
Then it was Greg Lambert’s last chance to end the 8 year undefeated streak of The Heavyweight House of Pain Stixx.
Alpha Omega Champion Stixx went one on one with challenger, The Showstealer Nathan Cruz.
Cruz – returning to Morecambe after a four year hiatus – showed everyone why he is a champion everywhere he goes, as he took the fight to the AOW Champion, leading many – including head referee Alan Wild and Chief of staff Charles Nelson Riley to consider stopping the match as Stixx’s injured back couldn’t take any more punishment.
Stixx would not let the streak die though as he put on yet another career defining performance, retained the Alpha Omega Championship and continued to head towards a ninth year undefeated in Morecambe.
Greg Lambert appeared to be ready to deliver another verbal tirade at his enemy, but proclaimed “I give up, it can’t be done” before leaving.
Stixx then took the microphone himself to leave some fans in tears with an emotional speech.
Stixx explained that his career in Morecambe has been one of his finest achievements, but with multiple long term injuries, a training school in Nottingham to run, and a family to look after, he had to think seriously about the risks to his health that defending the title against the top wrestlers in the country was causing.
Stixx clarified that he refused to be one of those guys who let ego and pride get in the way. As much as the title and the streak mean to him, with his family in mind, it wasn’t worth it and that this would be his final title defence in Morecambe.
He said that on November 12th, he would be retiring from Morecambe Wrestling.
November 12th Remember Remember will be the biggest night in Morecambe Wrestling.
Lana Austin finally gets her one on one title shot against Viper.
The Referendum defend the tag titles against Solar Power.
And we will witness Stixx’s last night in a Morecambe wrestling ring.
